Kathy discovered the Bellin Walking Club last year when she set out to do the Bellin Walk. After a bad fall at her home, Kathy was not looking like she was going to be able to participate in the 2013 Bellin Walk. She experienced a broken femur and torn tendons in her ankle which required her to get a titanium plate and six screws inserted. Having to lay in a bed for 6 weeks gave Kathy a huge desire to get back in the Bellin Fitness center and start training again.
Finally, after being released from therapy at Bellin Health Kathy was encouraged by her therapist to do the Bellin Run later that year. Being the kind of person who is always up for a challenge, Kathy said yes, and had her sights set on doing the Bellin Walk later that year.
With the help of the Bellin Fitness Center and her determination; Kathy was able to get back into shape so she was able to walk the Bellin again. The only difference this time was that she wasn’t worried about how fast she finished, she just wanted to finish with her family and friends at her side.
