David Parsons

David Parsons

David Parsons is 73 years old, has a wife named Susan and two sons, Seth and Andrew. David is a retired teacher who used to teach English and Biology. Some hobbies he enjoys are gardening and fishing.
David’s fitness journey began as he returned to swimming after he retired from teaching. He got back in the water, and with lots of hard work, was able to lose about 60 pounds! He also started to run and do a variety of exercises and activities including swimming, of course, other water aerobics, bicycling, and yoga.
After getting back into shape, in 2010 David participated in a Sprint Triathlon competition in Door County where he was part of a relay team with his wife. David was the swimmer for the team. After the competition, David continued to do athletic events that summer and for several more years to come. In 2016, he competed in the Bellin Run and finished 4th for his age group. David even completed a full Sprint Triathlon himself one year!
Through all of this, David’s wife, Susan, has been an important motivator to help him get started, as well as keep active even after a number of surgeries. Shoulder and knee surgeries did interrupt his fitness activities but only made him more determined to get better and continue on his fitness journey.
Bellin Health and the Fitness Center has been a vital part of this fitness lifestyle David has created. He attends different classes, and personal trains with Tyson who helps to push himself and strive to improve. David stopped working as a lifeguard but that only allowed him the time to attend more exercise classes, bike rides, runs, and swimming. David’s favorite motto is, “Nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.” – Emmerson. This motto is still a part of his mantra and he truly believes in it.
