Emma Peters

Emma is a nurse who works at Bellin Memorial Hospital in the cardiac unit. She is engaged to be married in October. They have a dog named Whiskey and a cat named Black Betty. She loves spending time with family, hiking with her fiancé and their dog, and spending time outside.
Emma first started her fitness journey after listening to one of our staff members, Jim Beversdorf, talk at a nurse residency class Emma attended. She thought the Movement for Health class would be a great opportunity to start getting herself moving. Her fiancé has also been encouraging her to start being active as well.
Emma’s biggest obstacles are motivation and knowledge. She needs motivation to be successful and keep herself accountable. She also gets nervous going to a gym and feels overwhelmed by the equipment and weights because she doesn’t always know how to use them. Starting the Movement for Health class, has kept Emma accountable because she was expected to be at class weekly and do exercises at home.
Emma’s long-term goal is to continue getting into shape and lose some belly weight to fit in her wedding dress better. She has also been successful by getting outside more to exercise. She says her life hasn’t changed much since she started, but the class has made her realize she wants to be healthier and more active.
Emma’s advice is, “Just try it! It is a fun class and there’s no worry about being judged or anything. I have really enjoyed it and will keep participating in the next sessions.”
