Meet Joanne Raymaker! Joanne (67) and her husband Jim celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in June…congratulations! They have four sons and six grandchildren. They also have a sweet English Springer Spaniel “Ellie” who likes to go hunting with Jim.
Joanne began her journey when she had Meniscus surgery in April of 2012. Once her knee was healed from surgery, she was referred to Bellin Health Physical Therapy and then to Bellin Health Fitness. Her goals were to stay fit, increase endurance, feel good, and stay as healthy as possible.
The obstacles that Joanne had to overcome were the pain and recovery from her surgery. The first step she took to overcome these obstacles was signing up for a free Pain and Injury Consultation offered by the fitness center and meeting with Jim Beversdorf, Corrective Exercise Specialist. Joanne then started personal training with Jim and says it’s the best thing she ever did for herself. In addition to personal training sessions, you will find Joanne participating in “The Ride” class on Monday mornings. She can also be found working hard on cardio equipment with a smile on her face.
After six years at Bellin Health Fitness doing regular workouts, classes and training with Jim Beversdorf, Joanne now has the energy, strength and endurance to do her daily activities. Working out has also helped keep her focused and feeling good! She also believes that working out regularly has helped in her recovery from an unexpected surgery when her appendix burst.
Joanne’s advice to others coming into the Fitness Center is to, “Start small and little by little you will see the progressions. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish!!”
