Meet Jodine Thiry! When Jodine (54) joined the Bellin Health Fitness, she was feeling the effects of worsening Osteoporosis. After suffering a fractured ankle that took five months to heal, Jodine realized she needed to do something to increase her strength, balance and mobility. She also needed to find ways to maintain bone mass.
The obstacles Jodine faced were challenging. Her biggest obstacle was learning to exercise with a brace on her left leg/ankle. She was determined to get her body in better condition so she can continue to play with her nieces and nephews.
Jodine has been regularly participating in the Silver Sneakers classes. The flexibility of these classes along with the equipment in the fitness center are helping Jodine to work toward her goals. When asked what successes she has seen since she joined the fitness center in March, she said, “Success happens a day at a time… Not falling down each day is a success.”
Not only has Jodine been making positive changes physically, but she has also met new friends. She has even reconnected with some prior friends who utilize the fitness center!
When asked what advice she would give to help others? “Seek advice from the Bellin Health Fitness staff. Try out different classes to see what fits best for you.”
