Mary Ann, a School Sister of Notre Dame just celebrated her 73rd birthday on June 13th…happy belated birthday to her! She lives with her fellow sister, Toni and loves to garden and teach nature crafts at the Lifelong Learning Institute. Her primary goal was to control her blood sugar because she is diabetic but she also wanted to work on her flexibility.
Mary Ann’s doctor motivated her to begin her fitness journey as well as her wanting to be healthy and strong! The obstacles that she had to overcome was making the decision to just do it in addition to asking for assistance to pay for her membership.
Bellin Health Fitness has been a great help to Mary Ann by arranging a partial scholarship because she couldn’t afford to join the fitness center. Everyone she has met at Bellin Fitness has been very encouraging.
Going to Silver Sneakers class with Darlene Pospichal is now part of Mary Ann’s routine. She says, “It is what I do!” She has met interesting and supportive people. She just feels better! Darlene says that Mary Ann is always smiling and trying her hardest and that there is just a peace about her.
When I asked Mary Ann, “What advice would you give to help others?” she said, “Just do it. The fitness staff will help you begin where you are at and grow from there. It won’t take long and you will feel like you belong. Thank you Bellin Fitness!
