Meet Janice Parshall! Janice (86) is a widow who now spends her life with her Rat Terrier dog, Tony, her three children (who she is very close with), her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her fitness journey began when her husband died and she needed something to get her out of the house. She joined Bellin Health Fitness in 2013 because she thought it would be a great place to go to make new friends and stay active. Her goals were to stay agile and mobile.
The obstacle that Janice is still working to overcome is her challenge with balance. She works on it by regularly going to the Silver Sneakers group fitness class with instructor Darlene Pospichal. She also broke her arm last winter but Bellin Health Physical Therapy really helped in her recovery. Janice says she really likes the friendliness of the staff at Bellin Health.
Her life has changed a lot since her husband died but going to the Silver Sneakers class gets her up in the morning and started on her day. She is not a morning person so she really likes that they added the noon option for class. She feels successful in making the effort to show up three times a week…keep up the good work, Janice!
When I asked her what advice would you give to help others, she replied, “Stay with it – it will become a good habit.”
