Meet the Hennesseys

Meet the Hennesseys! Lisa (58) and Jim (60) enjoy life together with their fur baby Mooka (their dog). They joined the Bellin Health Fitness family together in 2015. Lisa’s goals were to devote some “me” time after retirement to build confidence, get stronger, and meet new people and Jim’s were to get his body in better shape and get his joints and body loosened up.

Lisa’s motivation to begin her journey at Bellin Health Fitness came after years of working and putting her job first. She realized she needed to begin devoting some time to improve her physical, emotional and psychological self. She wanted to find her “true self” again, be happy, positive and meet new people. She stated, “health is typically taken for granted” and she wanted to be at her best and be proactive as well as include Jim on her wellness journey.

They both had obstacles to overcome. Lisa had to overcome going to a new place by herself to meet new people. As an introvert, this was difficult for her initially. But the staff and members at Bellin Health Fitness made it so much easier; they were and are so helpful and friendly and most of all welcoming! So welcoming that she became a volunteer at our Bellevue location. Jim had many obstacles to overcome including a left knee replacement, vertebrae that was out of alignment, a slight rotator cuff tear and the aches and pains of arthritis. But this did not discourage him from working toward reaching his goals.

Bellin Health Fitness played a huge part in helping both Lisa and Jim! It’s important to her to keep challenging her mind and body. She does this by participating in Group Fitness classes, Specialty classes, personal training, attending monthly Socials and making phone calls as part of her volunteer work. Lisa and her husband personal train with Dane and they appreciate how he keeps it challenging and fresh. They don’t do the same thing each week and it’s a friendly competition between the both of them. Jim especially appreciates how Dane uses just the right exercises to work his abs, joints and muscles.

Their lives have both changed for the better! Lisa is a much happier and positive person. Her success includes being stronger, improving her self-esteem, and developing some great new friendships. She feels like her “true self” and the person she was always meant to be! Primarily Jim’s life has changed because he is in less pain and has less restrictions on his body and joints. His success includes being able to move easier and being stronger overall. He also loves seeing the change in his wife and how she is a much happier and positive person. They are both grateful and thankful to be able to work out and just feel better!

When asked, “What advice would you give to help others?”, Lisa’s response was, “Take that first step to make time for yourself to become the best you can be. After all, the only person who can take care of you, is you! Get ahead of the game to be proactive about your total well-being…it is so worth it!” Jim replied, “You can work out to help your body get better and just start with a personal trainer so you can work up to your goals safely.”
